Think of "Items" as any line item that you would like to show up on an invoice (You can choose what line items clients see on the invoice itself.

Adding An Item

To add an item simple navigate to https://app.simpledvm.com/inventoryItems and click "Add item".

Any item you add here will now be available when you create an invoice for an appointment or a client.

You will then be asked to fill in information about the item. See the definitions of the various fields below:

Add Item Fields and Definitions

Category: The type of category. There are a few that matter the most:

Vaccination - If an item as marked as a vaccination, then we will assume you want to create a vaccination certificate when it is added to an invoice. You can uncheck this on the invoice if you do not wish for the certificate to be created.

Prescriptions - If an item is marked as prescriptions, we will assume you want to create a prescription and a label when adding this item to your invoice. you can uncheck this on the invoice if you do not wish for the certificate to be created.

Amount Per Unit - For services, this is usually 1. For medications, you can set this default number to whatever you would like.

Unit Of Measure - For mdications, this could be ml or something else. For services, you can use the name of the service itself.

Price Per Unit - This is the price that will be added to the invoice by default. It can be edited or changed in real time on the invoice itself.

Effective Duration - This is "Not Applicable" by default, but for Vaccinations and Prescriptions, if you would like, it can generate an expiration date automatically for you.

Controlled Item - This is for marking your controlled substances. SimpleDVM is not claiming to be "DEA Compliant" for controlled substance inventory tracking, and we suggest you have an alternative solution for compliant tracking of these.

Print On Invoice - If selected, this item will show up on invoices and be visible to the client. If not selected, this item will only show up internally to your users.

Taxable - If you mark the item as taxable, it will automatically apply whatever tax rate you have setup in your basic Location settings
