impleDVM supports Google Tag Manager (GTM) on public online booking pages. This allows your team to understand how clients move through the booking flow and when a booking request is submitted.
Before you begin
Before setting up GTM, make sure you have:
A Google Tag Manager account
A GTM Container ID in the format
GTM-XXXXXXXAccess to your SimpleDVM location settings
Add your GTM Container ID
To enable GTM on a location’s public booking pages:
Open the location in SimpleDVM.
Go to Online Booking settings.
Find the Google Tag Manager Container ID field.
Enter your GTM Container ID.
Save your changes.
Once saved, GTM will automatically load on that location’s public booking pages.
What SimpleDVM tracks
SimpleDVM can send GTM events as clients move through the booking flow and when a booking request is submitted.
This may include activity across different steps in the booking experience, such as:
Service selection
Booking review
Account step
Pet information step
Additional questions
Add-ons
Payment
Booking request submission
Important notes
GTM only loads on public booking pages.
Tracking works for both standard online booking pages and direct booking links.
A booking request submission means the request was sent successfully.
It does not mean the appointment has been confirmed.
Validate your setup
We recommend using GTM Preview mode to confirm that your setup is working correctly.
Open your GTM container.
Click Preview.
Enter your public booking URL.
Move through the booking flow.
Confirm that booking-related events appear as you progress through the experience and submit a booking request.
If the setup is working correctly, GTM should detect activity throughout the booking flow.
